La Cañada Flintridge

Outdoor opportunities abound in La Cañada Flintridge, one of 20 jurisdictions to have been named a "Trail Town, USA" by the American Hiking Society. A continuous network of trails circumnavigates the town, leading hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians along the Arroyo Seco, past Jet Propulsion Laboratory, through developed areas and into the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. The trail network features an extensive coil of trails in Cherry Canyon, in the San Rafael Mountains south of the Descanso Gardens.

Still, there are significant open space areas in need of conservation in the foothills of La Canada, which contain over 400 acres of privately held land. Conserving this area would allow for existing trails to be preserved, and new ones to be established. It would also secure a wide corridor for wildlife.
